Inventory, Warehouse & Retail Buyer/MerchandiserJob

We are seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented  Inventory, Warehouse & Retail Buyer/Merchandiser to oversee inventory management, purchasing, receiving, warehouse operations, and retail merchandising. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, purchasing merchandise, coordinating vendor relationships, ensuring efficient warehouse operations, and creating attractive retail displays that drive sales and enhance the customer experience.

The ideal candidate has experience in inventory control, retail buying, warehouse management, merchandising, and vendor negotiations while maintaining exceptional organizational and analytical skills.

ResponsibilitiesInventory & Warehouse Management

• Manage all warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing inventory.
• Receive incoming shipments, inspect merchandise for quality and accuracy, and reconcile packing slips with purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
• Ensure inventory is properly labeled, organized, and rotated using FIFO where applicable.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
• Coordinate transfers between locations as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
• Prepare inventory reports and analyze inventory trends.
• Develop and improve warehouse procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize inventory loss.

Retail Buying & Merchandising

• Research, select, and purchase merchandise that aligns with company goals, customer demand, and seasonal trends.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, promotions, and product availability.
• Analyze sales reports, inventory turnover, and customer buying patterns to make purchasing decisions.
• Plan seasonal product assortments and monitor product performance.
• Create and maintain visually appealing retail displays that maximize sales.
• Ensure merchandise is properly priced, tagged, and displayed according to company standards.
• Monitor product margins and profitability.
• Identify slow-moving merchandise and develop promotional strategies.
• Collaborate with management on new product opportunities and merchandising initiatives.

General Responsibilities

• Work closely with accounting and management to reconcile invoices and purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor files.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
• Assist with special projects and other operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, retail buying, merchandising, or a related field.
• Experience purchasing retail merchandise and managing vendor relationships.
• Strong understanding of inventory control and warehouse management.
• Knowledge of retail merchandising principles and visual presentation.
• Experience negotiating with vendors and suppliers.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Forklift certification is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, and move merchandise throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in warehouse and retail environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail, hospitality, restaurant, gift shop, or specialty retail purchasing.
• Knowledge of inventory forecasting and sales analysis.
• Experience with point-of-sale and inventory management systems.
• Strong visual merchandising skills with an eye for product presentation.
• Leadership experience supervising warehouse or retail team members.
