Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide nursing care to medically fragile students in a classroom setting throughout the school day. The role involves carrying out nursing orders, monitoring student health, and collaborating with educational and healthcare staff to ensure the well-being and safety of students. This position requires a WA LVN/LPN license and the ability to work full-time during the school year.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and support to medically fragile students in the classroom setting.
• Carry out nursing orders as directed by supervising Registered Nurses or healthcare providers.
• Monitor and assess student health status and report changes accordingly.
• Assist with therapeutic procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation for each student.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals to support student health needs.
• Ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment for students.
• Perform other nursing-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Washington State LVN/LPN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to provide nursing care to medically fragile pediatric patients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in nursing care, preferably with pediatric or school-age populations.
• Ability to work independently in a classroom environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with medically fragile children or in school nursing.
• Additional certifications related to pediatric nursing or school health services.
• Experience with medication administration in pediatric populations.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires working full school days in a single classroom setting.
• Must be able to manage the care of medically fragile students with attention to detail and safety.
• Work is Monday through Friday during the school year; no on-call or night shifts.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position, approximately 35 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday, during the school year (26-27 weeks).
• Typical shift is 7 hours per day, aligned with the school day schedule.
